Diagnostics
In-House Lab Work
Our in-house laboratory is equipped to conduct a wide range of essential tests, ensuring we can quickly and effectively address your pet's health needs. By performing these tests on-site, we are able to provide immediate insights and answers when a pet is unwell. Here’s a brief overview of the services we offer:
Chemistry Panels: These tests analyze blood samples to measure the levels of various substances released by organs and tissues. Abnormal levels can indicate potential issues or diseases in specific organs or tissues.
CBC Panels: This test evaluates the quantities of different blood components, including white blood cells, platelets, and hemoglobin. It helps us understand your pet's overall health and detect issues such as anemia or infections.
Urinalysis Panels: By examining the physical and chemical properties of urine, we can detect abnormalities such as blood presence or unusual concentration levels. This test is a valuable tool for diagnosing urinary tract conditions and other related issues.
Additionally, we offer a variety of other specialized tests based on individual patient needs.
For conditions or tests that cannot be addressed with our in-house equipment, we collaborate with external laboratories such as IDEXX and Antech. This ensures we can access a broader range of diagnostic options and provide comprehensive care tailored to your pet's specific health concerns.
X-Ray and Ultrasound
X-rays and ultrasounds are invaluable tools for diagnosing a variety of conditions in pets, each offering unique advantages.
X-rays: These imaging studies are highly effective for visualizing bones, detecting foreign objects, and examining large body cavities. They are commonly used to identify fractures, tumors, injuries, infections, and deformities. While X-rays provide detailed images, they might not always pinpoint the exact cause of an issue. However, they can help your veterinarian determine which additional tests may be necessary to reach a definitive diagnosis.
Ultrasound: This imaging technique excels at visualizing soft tissues within the body. Unlike X-rays, ultrasound can provide detailed images of the size, shape, and internal structure of organs, helping to identify abnormalities that may not be visible on X-rays. Ultrasound is a painless and noninvasive procedure with no associated risk of complications, making it an excellent option for assessing internal conditions and guiding further diagnostic steps.
